Meds after cancer - reassurance for friend please!
Hi Guys (I've also posted this on the immigration forum but got no replies - apologies for double posting)
We're in NSW now on a 457 Visa and friends of ours are in the same position. They have recently applied for PR and are a little concerned about their meds (hers in particular). She is now 5 years clear since suffering with Breast Cancer. When she had the meds for the 457 in the UK all that she needed to provide was a letter from her specialist (which she was advised to bring with her ready for the PR application). Since applying for PR she has been told that she needs to provide a similar letter but from an Oz doctor. This in itself isn't really a problem (more frustrating I think than anything else) but its got her a little bit worried. She has received a phone call from the doc stating that it will have to be a very indepth report which would cost $500 per hour to produce - and could take a lot of 'man hours'! She isnt working at the moment and so this side in itself is enough to worry her (financially) but obviously because of the seriousness of her previous condition its got her thinking all sorts now. Shes worried that there is something underlying and has got herself all in a tizz about it (understandably). Sorry to babble on but I just wanted to hear anyone elses experience with this just to put her mind at rest.
Thanks ever so much guys - any advice is very much appreciated!
cheers

Re: Meds after cancer - reassurance for friend please!
I had cervical cancer 3 years before I applied for a perm visa. After DIMIA received my medicals I was asked to submit a letter from my doc stating that I won't have a relapse in the next 5 years. Sounds absolutely stupid, my doc is no clairvoyant. I was not asked to see a doctor in Australia. But this is 9 years ago.
