Medicare Experience
Hi
We have had a little bit of experience with Medicare with NO extra Health Insurance, we are based in Sydney
near Hornsby.
Our surgery bulk bills so no expense there.
Our son needed to be referred to a Paediatrican that cost $100 got $65 back from Medicare, went straight
into a medicare office and was handed the cash back.
We were then referred to a specialist because he need a little operation (like an hernia thing) that consultation cost $110 and we got back from medicare $50.
Like I say he needs an operation, so the consultant we saw booked him in straight onto the waiting list of 4 weeks (yes 4 weeks). The next option open to us after we had agreed the time
period was - would we like her to do the operation for $500 or anybody on duty that day to do the operation. So we have elected for her to do it.
Needless to say we were impressed with the short waiting list and the option of having a named consultant doing the operation and the option of having the op in 2 or 3 different hospitals in the Sydney area.
He hasn't had the operation yet though, so I'm waiting for the phone call to say it has been cancelled. Oops shouldn't be negative, my excuse is I'm British....

Medicare is a Yankie private company that lives off the Goverment and is in the USA and Canada .
Both these countries are having problems with Medicare and it will in time destory cheap health care as it has done in both these countries , the present Tory goverment want a private system and will bring Medicare in line with the private fees.

His new reforms need to be given a chance , people will never except paying twice for health care as they do here.
