Default Medicare & child benefit Q

We are going to Oz on a 175 visa in nov are we entitiled to medicare and what about child benefit is there such a thing? How do we apply for said things, thanks in advance for advice

Yes, you're entitled to medicare on the 175 visa. When you arrive you just walk into an office with your passports, ID, and proof of address (lease agreement, etc).

There should be a form you could fill out in advance and bring in. We just did it when we got there though.

Child benefits go through centrelink. You might be eligible for some depending on your income and the age of the kids.

Again, you'd have to walk into an office with all the needed paperwork.

Thanks for that do you have to go to the office in person or can you email forms etc, we are going to Phillip Is Vic and it doen't look like there is one near.

I'm not sure because you also have to show your passport and proof of address. You'd probably have to call them to find out. If they did let you I'd assume you'd have to send in certified copies of the documention.

Sorry.... not too sure. You might find the answer on the website, or at least find an email address to ask.
