Medicare?
Hi all,
I'm new here
My boyfriend and I are moving from the UK to Manly at the end of March on Working Holiday Visas.
We're trying to arrange everything before leaving (as you do!) and we're unsure whether we need to purchase Long Stay/Backpackers insurance for our visit, or would we be covered by Medicare? Could anyone please offer any advice on this matter?
We're both planning on working, rather than just holiday-ing whilst we're there.
THANK YOU

you don't say whether you and your boyfriend are British residents, but assuming you are, there are reciprocal medical arrangments existing between the UK and Australian governments that would cover you for basic medical treatments while in Australia. Please see the link below for more info:

I would still recommend that you take out separate travel insurance for the duration of your Visa for peace of mind

Re: Medicare?
You should have backpackers insurance, for example, if you need to be medically repatriated.
