Medicare
So I have temporary permanent residency (my partner is australian and they havent completed the two year check to see if we are still together yet).
Because of this I get the blue medicare card, which they renew every 12 months.
It ran out in December (I wasnt given warning, but my GP noticed it had just expired when he tried to process it). Phoned medicare who told me to bring my passport in to an office to get another one. It was two weeks till I could do this as I was quite ill (and therefore racked up a few receipts).
When I went in (after waiting for 45 mins) they said they actually need a letter from immigration, and immigration say this will take a while to produce. Also, I am not allowed to claim any of the bills that I got since my last one expired and this letter being accepted (even though they know I have been in the country and have a visa).
It all just seems such a hassle I cant even be bothered getting a new one. Anyone else had these issues?
