Medicals - When to do them ?
 

Hi,

Do you have to wait until the medicals are requested or is there a way of getting them done so you can send them off with your application ? Would this reduce the overall waiting time ?

Hello, we have just completed and I know our passports are waiting for me to collect tomorrow at the post office.
When we had our Medicals e had to take along a lot of paperwork for the Doctor to complete, so I guess you can't really do it until you receive the go ahead from DIMIA.
Also once the Medical is done you have to enter the country within one year, like we had our medical in january but were not granted the visa until 22nd March then we had to send the passports off, they have just come back and we have to go in before jan next year, so a year from medical not a year from visa granted date

I phoned Adelaide yesterday re. the same thing. They said not to do them until you are requested to do them, as the medical cert. expires quite quickly and you would end up paying for them again.

Can anyone advise me of how to get medical forms 26 and 160. I have e-mailed DIMIA previousley with no response. Anyone got them in Adobe Acrabat Reader Format?

Reference the question on how to get the forms, we e-mailed London at the weekend and received the forms today, (12/04).
Note that the e-mail link on the link mentioned above (basically on the forms page) didn't seem to work, we had to use the address on the front page.

Danny,

You can't download a copy of the 160, as it's a carbonated form with built-in
envelope, so that the panel doctor can send it directly to the embassy.

is 160 and 160A the same form ?

No the forms aren't the same, you can only use 160A if you are in Australia.
You have to wait for originals by post either from London if you request them ,or when Adelaide send them.
