Medicals in Australia
Hi All,
We are due to fly to Aus next week for a holiday. Our meds have been requested and our agent has said that we can do them in Aus if we wanted.
Hubby thinks this is a good idea as I will be nice and relaxed and it could help the blood pressure.
Does anyone how we find a panel doctor in Brisbane or the Gold Coast.

You have to use HSA, but it may be worth e-mailing first as if you apply for a visa in Australia you have to have your meds BEFORE applying.
I can't see there being any problems though if your CO has suggested it.

Oops! I just presumed it would be there - but then now thinking about it - it shouldn't be there

How long are you going to be in Australia for? Bear in mind that sometimes you have to have follow-up tests if the medical finds something they're not keen on. In my case, it took nearly 3 months from the medical to finally getting the all-clear from a specialist. It made it easier that the medical, scans, follow-up tests etc were all in the same country - eg when I went to see the specialist, he was able to get my GP to fax over to him during the appointment some of my records (thank goodness - a second appointment with him would have cost another $250!).
Another thing to bear in mind is whether travelling etc interferes with your menstrual cycle - the urine tests can pick up traces of blood before your period properly starts, which will skew the test.

Re: Medicals in Australia
i had my medical done in brisbane by HSA (adelaide street if i remember!). chest xray was done by the brisbane private hospital (near roma street, cant remember actual address).
for HSA they get you to book your xray first and then get the medical done a 1/2 days after (to give them time to get the chest xray sent over). managed to get an appointment within a couple of days of the day i made a phonecall. HSA was busy but plenty of staff and seemed very effcient!
for out medical we just hung about at the end, got the big medical envelopey thing for immigration.... and proply walked 50m over the road to immigration to hand it in... where we were told that our visa had already been granted without the medicals being done (so mch for a "requirement"!!).
totaly cost was $235....
this was for a student visa tho so imagine some of the process and costs will be somewhat different for PR

Thanks for the replies. We are only in Queensland for 10 days so we will probably be best waiting until we get back to england.
Looks like it is back to Huddersfield doctor.
