Question Medicals?

Can anyone shed any light on what the medical proses envolves?

What do they check for, how much and where to go...do you just ask your local GP?

Thanks

JB

We had ours in February. All adults are required to have a HIV test and a chest xray. I was also weighed, had a urine test and a blood pressure test. You also have a fairly detailed medical form to complete before you go for the tests. You have to have the tests with a doctor/clinic on the DIMIA panel list (more details can be found on the DIMIA web site). There are also quite expensive (I think ours was approx £300 per adult)

Hi Freesurf. They send you a list of approved doctors for the meds. Our's came to about £375 for 2 adults and a (nearly) 5 year old child, including x-rays.
They checked for HIV and TB,eye test, urine test, blood pressure, listen to chest, reflexes, height against weight etc etc. Fairly basic but quite thorough. They seem to be mainly concerned with anything contagious or anything that may need a lot of treatment (to their cost)when you get out there.
I have a heart mumur, slipped disc, have suffered post-natal depression and had to have a hysterectomy at 31 just before Xmas and we got our visas about 4 weeks ago!!!!!Don't get much more crook than me!!!
If you have any longterm health probs or up and coming surgery I would recommend getting GP and/or specialist letters together to include with your meds just to avoid delays later(that's what I did).
