Question Medical Secretary work in Brisbane ?

We are moving to Brisbane later on this year and will be staying in Ferny Grove in the northern suburbs. My wife is a medical secretary and will be looking for part time work once we have found somewhere for our 2.5 year old daughter go. Anyone got any hints on who/where to contact once we arrive and rough idea of pay? Thanks

A lot of those jobs ask for experience with the "Medical Director" software.

Information is available here: http://hcn.australiandoctor.com.au/md_details.asp

The web site does say" A full working (trial) copy of the Medical Director program is available free of charge to all registered doctors" however I managed to get them to send a copy to someone that wanted to get used to the program before they applied for a job. It may be worth an email to the company explaining what you want to do.

G'day greggsy and Mrs greggsy, and welcome to the forum.

Ferny Hills is about 5 minutes away from me and a nice spot! You will find jobs popping up from time to time for medical secretaries on Seek or Career One.

Wickham Terrace is Brisbane's equivalent of Harley Street in London - the place where most medical specialists have rooms. The pay is greater than that of an 'ordinary' secretary given the appropriate experience. The above websites will give you a better idea of current rates of pay and availability.

MrsG could travel on the train from Ferny Hills to Brisbane's Central Station in approximately 20 minutes and have a five to ten minute walk to 'the Terrace'. There are also two major hospitals in the Wickham Terrace region which have dozens, if not hundreds, of specialists. These are the Holy Spirit Hospital and St. Andrew's Hospital if you want to Google them. There are two other private hospitals within easy drive of Ferny Hills, the North West Private and Wesley Hospital, which could also be worth a look at for medical secretarial work. There's also the Royal Brisbane Hospital, which is the closest public hospital to where you will be living. Then, of course, there are dozens of local GPs surgeries which all employ medical receptionists.

In short, I don't think MrsG will have too much of a problem finding something here!

Cheers,
PR
