Default Medical Records

Hiya

Sara has just been to her docs and asked about her medical records.

The doc wasn't sure.

What have others done with their records. Have you been able to take them with you?

hi graham under patient confidentiality, you are entitled for a copy of your notes this has to be requested in writing!

and a charge often Aplys, they however can hold back third party information-and have a right of 28days to respond!

hope this helps gee

PS if you ask them for a paper copy from the computer-this will often be free and quicker dependant on the GPS

Not sure about GP records but Hospital records have to be requested once you are over in Oz via the Hospital that you are under (told this by Consultant for our kids).

our doctor said he can give us copies of all our medical notes (5 of us altogether), and...wait for it, charge us 33p a photocopy, yes...thats one copy per page :scared: needless to say we will be leaving them behind, luckily we are pretty healthy anyway, well apart from all this drinking we're doing at the mo!

I have just put on post on about this. The information Commissioner may not consider this a reasonable charge in accordance with the data protection act 1998. Check out their site, just type in the name. You can ask them questions and they are VERY independant in terms of their advise. So you know you will get a honest answer.
