Medical panic

Hi

Me and my family have just had our medicals. I have a bit of white coat syndrome ie: when any doctor or nurse takes my blood pressure it's usualy high, so I had a 24h blood pressure metre fitted and this showed my blood pressure to be normal. The thing is my dad died of a heart attack 20 years ago and the doctor said it could go against me. I do feel this would be a bit harsh as I'm perfectly fit at the moment

Also my wife has had a few knee opps for a condition related to arthritis, since her last opp she has been a lot better but again the doc said it could go against us.

I have a letter from my doc saying that my blood pressure is OK, and my wife is waiting for a report on her knee. We have spent quite a bit on this LTBV and we are both a bit concerned now after the medicals any help would be greatly appreciated.

hey have just had the same thing, paid privatley to see the cardiologist who said bp was normal now but may not discount that it may be higher in the future

all they are looking for is that you are not a drain on their society and for now you are fit and healthy

And apparently there is such a thing as "white coat syndrome" where they actually expect your bp to be slightly higher than if you were seeing your usual GP.
