Default medical insurance

I expected to have to pay higher premiums due to my accident before I leftthe UK what I wasn't prepared for was for the company my husband has insurance with to refuse to insure me at all!!

does anyone know of any medical insurance companies in Oz who take people on with fairly serious med problems which are stable?

I joined Medibank and have a strong history of asthma and I didnt need to fill in any questions or anything - there is a 12 month waiting period for pre existing conditions - that is all I know.
