Useful Post which is good to see.

Bear in mind tho most of the increase in property has been in the last 12-18 months. We bought a suburban block last september for $105,000. That developer has just sold his last release for around the $175,000. Not all areas would have gone up that much tho.

This is VERY true. When we were in the UK, for at least 12 months prior to coming over here we kept a close eye on the property prices in Brisbane. they were increasing, but at a fairly low rate. In the last 12 months, properties in our area (acreage estate, 30 minute commute to Brisbane, near Moreton Bay), have increased by around 30%....

Rosy provided the key: substantiate.

If appropriate try to provide links to independent web pages. (click the "http://: button, you can copy the web page address in your browser by high lighting all of it, press Ctrl C, switch to the browser window into which you are entering your Expats post, press Ctrl V)

Yeah right!! Everytime PB substantiates he gets slagged off for Cut and Pasting!

Lets just face it Australia is a real place not a bloody holiday brochure and some here are never gonna like that!

Most sensible solution would be to stop anybody who actually lives in OZ from posting here. Thats right rename it "forum for people who have never been to OZ but who know truckloads about it" Oh sorry and dont forget "I spent 2 weeks in OZ in 1999 and thats the same as living there".

C'mon Dotty, you know PB, and you, delight in taking the Mick out of Australia and Australians. You both, at times, provide useful information but that is incidental to the main aim of slagging off.

It is all a matter of thoughtful formulation and consideration. This is especially true when you wish to persuade or dissuade. Going in boots 'n all gets no one nowhere.

Dotty, I don't think you'll find anyone on here who thinks Australia is a holiday brochure. Most people do want to hear about the negative stuff as well, but I think you will find that what most of us object to is having insults thrown, and the attitude that anyone who wants to go to Oz must be off their head. People who give out that attitude are not only self-opiniated bigots, but are likely to do more harm than good. For the record, I don't include you in this group - don't forget you promised not to diss me when I appear in K-mart in shorts and bare feet - , but the likes of PB and Wilf (God rest his soul) are just trying to make themselves feel better about their failure by making it look as if everyone else will fail as well.

Pommie Bastard's cut and pastes are all negative about Aus, never a kind word; good for bait but it lands a tedious surfeit of indigestable fish.

Dotty more often than not you sound condesending making your posts, which sometimes contain useful information, a waste of your time.

You both seem "guilty" of "unloading" your frustrations etc on others.

Who has not, like you two, at sometime lived somewhere they would prefer not to be.

Your views are valid, I ask you to consider your delivery. Expressing your views thoughtfully and insightfully, devoid of gall, should be more cathatic and invite less backbiting.
