Medi care

Hi
As I'm writing this, I think I know the answer, but I'm trying to save time before we leave the UK
Can you start applying for a medi care card whilst still in the Uk, if not hoe long does it take when we arrive, and dies anybody have a web link to apply for NSW please
Also , driving license , am I right in saying you can use your UK license when we arrive to get a Australian license
Regards
Jason

You have to be here to apply for a medicare card. You need to also wait a few days before registering - they need to be notified by Customs that you are here. This is done by computer, but can take a day or two.

My internet is slow tonight, so pages not loading. But the main Medicare website is here: http://www.medicareaustralia.gov.au/

There will be a 'contact us' button, just follow that to get a list of service centres in NSW. That will give you the address

Yes you can drive on your UK licence for up to 3 months. Transferring it to an Aus one as soon as you can is a good idea though as it's a really good form of ID. :)

If your visa is a permanent visa, then it's up to 3 months. Temporary visa holders don't have to get a NSW licence.

Good point :D

Although an Aus one is still good to have for the ID factor.
