If you are a motor mechanic and i see you are under 30 then you should have enough points to apply without the need for a sponsor .
Have you looked at the skilled section on the DIMIA website to see of you meet the requirements ?

If you have enough points then apply for your visa as it will be a permanent one, like most country's if you want to find work you will, there are not many online but seam to be plenty in the papers.
Why not search car dealers in Perth and email them to get some feed back on jobs?
I found a job in 93 at a main dealer in Sydney just by walking in with a CV.
