Me and my boy!
Recently I have listened to several people 'dissing' Adelaide..."not as lively as Brisbane"....."job opportunities not as good as Sydney"
(personally I think it looks wonderful! - at present we lived in a country village about 10 mins outside a large town in the UK)
Two questions;
1. I am a recently qualified accountant (albeit an unusually mature one!) - will I find employment that will at least pay the bills with a bit left over? (don't smoke, don't gamble, drink a bit, don't need to live in a mansion)
2. I am emmigrating with my 17 year old son. He is friendly, kind, loves all sports, sleeps a lot, likes animals, doesn't know what he wants to do when he 'grows up', sometimes moans too much! Is there enough 'life' in Adelaide to keep his moaning within a bearable level?
I don't mind where I live - all of Australia looks good! But I thought Adelaide offered the best value for money with regards to property?

1. Impossible to say as it depends on so many factors. There are fewer jobs in Adelaide compared to the other major centres, however most migrants who are flexible, resourceful, prepared to retrain etc will find something.
2. Again - impossible to say. Adelaide is 'quieter' than the other major centres, but only you can say whether it's right for you and your son or not.
Have you visited Adelaide?
If you've not applied for your visa yet then be careful regarding your son - if he turns 18 during your application processing DIMIA will expect to see evidence that he is fully dependent on you. This causes problems for a surprising number of people with older children, especially those who have left full time education or have started relationships.
