Molly ingredients 2 yolks of eggs 1/8 teaspoon salt 1-½ cups best vegetable oil About 4 tablespoons lemon juice instructions Put the egg yolks in a small bowl, add the salt and a half teaspoon lemon juice, and mix well. Add the oil gradually, drop by drop at first, but faster as you proceed, and stir constantly. As the mixture thickens, thin it with lemon juice. Add oil and lemon juice alternately until all is used, stirring or beating constantly. Keep well covered and in a cool place when not in use. |

Molly Hi Molly, You can actually get Hellmanns here, but it's very hard to find & will be more specialised shops, apparently Coles sold it at one time, but I have yet to find it. I have found the "egg mayonnaise" to taste more like hellmanns compared to the sweet Aussie stuff. It really comes down to tried & tested. I buy one made by Praise. It's egg & low fat and my taste buds are coming round to making the best of a bad situation! :o If you find Hellmanns then let us all know!! Stacey |
Re: Mayonnaise Help

Re: Mayonnaise Help
There was a thread on this a short while back. I think there was an S&W and S&W light version. I like Thomy Delikatess (Swiss) - all of which you can buy at Woolies. I haven't tried S&W yet - but many were enthusiastic about it.
I also find all the others peculiarly sweet. |

Molly We've recently found the S&W brand too (after chucking out loads of others which were yuk!!!) and it isn't too bad at all. Very easy to get hold of in Woolies/Coles but I haven't heard of the other store somebody mentioned in this area. Julie |

Re: Mayonnaise Help
My vote goes with the 'Best Foods - Real mayo', made by unilever, you can get it at Coles or Bi-lo, about $4 a pop. :)
