Married in Australia, Divorce in UK????
Not a pleasant subject but wondering what to do.
Both dual citizens, married in Australia but living in UK and moving closer to divorce, can that happen over here in the UK even though we were legally married in Australia? Not sure what to do next?
Any advice is appreciated.

sorry to hear about your troubles.
Yes, you can be divorced in the UK (doesn't matter that you were married in Australia).
If you and your husband both agree to the divorce (called "undefended divorce"), then it's a very straightforward procedure which does not necessarily require the use of a solicitor.
If only one of you wants the divorce and the other person doesn't want it (called "defended divorce"), you will need a solicitor.
If it's going to be an undefended divorce, the two of you need to decide who will apply for the divorce. This person is called the "petitioner" and s/he has to fill in the forms. The divorce will go through your local county court. You can look up the address in the phone book and go down there to get the necessary forms.
If you're not sure how to complete the forms (they use some legal jargon), go down to your local Citizens Advice Bureau. They will help you to fill in the form.s
You can also go to the Citizens Advice Bureau and ask to be given the leaflets on divorce. The leaflets explain how the process works in detail, and one of the leaflets has pictures of the forms and instructions on how to fill them in.
The forms will ask you to state one of the five facts why the marriage has broken down. (There has to have been one of them.) Briefly, they are:
1. Adultery, or
2. Unreasonable behaviour, or
3. Desertion, or
4. Separation for two years with consent, or
5. Separation for five years without consent
If you get the leaflets from the CAB, they will explain it all in detail.
