Marketing your business in Oz
Hi all,
We are over on a 163 business visa and in the UK relied on the internet for our sales leads. It's becoming clear that Australians don't tend to use the internet as a research tool as much as the British, so for all of you running businesses out there, how do you get your customers?
We are currently direct mailing for our vehicle tracking product and looking at radio advertising for the ADT alarms.
Does anyone have any suggestions on grabbing the Aussie's attention?
All ideas gratefully received!
Jules

Just FYI, Australia also deems unsolicited email illegal so beware if going down that route.

I don't think the unsolicited email works whatever your product, but thanks for the info!

Don't worry, you will get your fill of spam mail soon I'm sure. As I understand it that law only applies to Australian businesses so you can still get spam sent to you originating from other countries.

Price? features etc.
Is it similar to Horizon Tracker and connectable to the police? Because most manufacturers fit these as factory options now.
Perhaps getting in touch with mechanics organisations? garages? advertising in car magazines? police stations to leave brochures? brochures on car windows?

It's more of a fleet management tool. Can track vehicles, provide vaulable data (i.e. engine on/off status, speed etc), also offers a job dispatch feature, where work can be sent directly to the vehicle and then the sat nav will guide the driver straight to site. Great for couriers or service engineers.
Very low cost as well - from $2.79 per day. Have a look at the website:
www.affinity-one.com.au/navman
Thanks for your imput.

How do you think we should market the alarms? Not convinced radio is the way to go and people don't appear to use the internet in the same way over here.

Firstly by direct mail. Secondly yellow pages. Thirdly, not very successfully, online.
