Default Maps and Stuff

Does anybody know where I can look at an on-line map of Melbourne and surrounding suburbs. I am trying to explain the layout to somebody but cannot find anything even after trawling the net. Something like this must exist.

Any help gratefully accepted! Thanks.

the Melway is on the net, altho it is more useful if you have a street name or suburb you are looking for - but you can zoom in/out etc to get an overall view

I know - I couldn't live without my Melway when we were in Melbourne. I think the fact that it's referencing system is so widely used is brilliant - it was invaluable when house hunting. We got to the point where we'd tell friends our Melways ref when they were trying to find our house!!

I was lent a Melways when I hired the car and used it so much. Wish I'd bought one now, but it was so heavy and I was already well over my weight limit!

You can buy the Melway on the internet, and they ship very quickly. The postage costs almost as much as the book though, but I have found it invaluable.

I too searched to find a decent on-line map of Melbourne & suburbs. As already mentioned the Melway looked the most helpful. If I remember rightly it cost about £20 to buy on-line & about the same again in postage.
