Maps

Hi,

All the maps I have seen for Melbourne and Sydney seems to only cover the CBS in detail (down to street level) and have a high level map of surounding areas.

Can any one recommend a detailed map that covers the surrounding suburbs. i.e. like a Greater Manchester A-Z.

Cheers,
Martin

Re: Maps

Thanks all.

I want a paper based map (though the links are appreciated as some of them were really good). The Melways and Sydways seem to cover what I'm after, but can't seem to find any where that sells them in UK. To buy direct is $77 plus $75 postage!

I've had a look on Amazon and they only seem to have the flexi maps, which only cover high level and detailed CBD.

Must be something I can buy in UK?!?!?

You should never have to pay $77 for the Melway!! The Melway site quotes $47 plus free shipping within Oz (or $43 gst free for international but I didn't check out shipping costs)....is there someone in Oz who can send it to you - wouldn't have thought it would cost too much using economy air. http://www.ausway.com.au/ez/category16_1.htm

We sent away for a Greater Melbourne fold out map by Heme Maps. Shows the region around Melbourne on one side and the main city on the other. Forgotten where it came from, could have been mapsworldwide.com, do a search on Google for ISBN 1-86500-135-X. Not that expensive and a great reference tool looking for your favourite suburb.

Melbourne this Spring for us....

Sorry, should have mentioned, the price was for both Melbourne and Sidney maps.

Still can't decide where we want to go. More IT jobs in Sydney, but something just seems to appeal more about Melbourne at the moment.

ah, that makes sense then!
Have you tried ebay (Oz)? You might get one that's only a couple of years old for a few dollars. You'd only be missing the most recently built roads/housing estates - depends if that's important to you I guess :)
