Manly or Wynnum?
Hi folks,
Still trying to narrow dow the areas we initiall look at to rent in. More or less cancelled out the Northern suburbs as a few have said crossing the city is not pleasent (working in Nathan).
Does anyone live in Manly or Wynnum or surrounding areas? Can you share why you like it.
Really appreciate it.
Cheers
Ginny

Ginny, choose Manly if you like a few restuarants & a more upmarket (& expensive when it comes to rents) place to live. Wynnum has alot bigger village centre with lots more shops, library, CES etc but is a bit more "ordinary people" (does that make sense? ).
Both places are really only a few streets apart (it's probably only about 1km between the centre of Manly & Wynnum), so living anywhere in the area means that either/both are easily accessible.
I like both, for different reasons .
Cam lives there, hopefully he will let you know his opinion.

SS is talking about Manly in Sydney!! Not Brisbane .
Viccy Point & Cleveland may be closer, but there is no direct way to get to Nathan from there either, you would still have to go to the city (or close to the city) & get a bus out to Nathan.
Closest train station to Nathan would probably be Moorooka.

Thanks for the info. I've spotted a school that meets all the necessary criteria for the kids ie, swimming pool for Son, Out of school care, autistic aware for my daughter......not much I know!
I know we won't know until we get there but we're limited in some ways and it's good to get opinions in advance.

Re: Manly or Wynnum?
I agree with everything MrsD has said .. manly is definately a little more 'upmarket' than wynnum but wynnum has a lot more shops/doctors/parks etc
They are much of a muchness if you have a car as they are so close together
We chose wynnum because we're a one car family (which i use for work) so the wife can walk into the 'town centre' (bay terrace) or catch one of the superb local buses (the wynnum manly loop) and has everything she needs fairly close ... manly has less of this (but plenty of nice restuarants etc )
As for commuting .. i use the car and can get to greenslopes in 20mins in the morning and home in about 25mins
(greenslopes is south brisbane about 6ks from the city)

Hi,
One I had a look at was Manly West State School. There are some more that tick the boxes. Runcorn, Mount Gravitt East and I think Birkdale as well. There were some more but they were North of the river.
Sam's really keen on having a pool at his school which is fair enough. I also really need the school to be at least autistically aware. Asha is high functioning which kind of means that there is no apparent learning difficulties. She has difficulty socially so if the school are at least aware then it should hopefully be easier.
Any other suggestions please let me know.
Cheers

Thanks for the reply. We're hoping to have two cars (one decent and the other a run around). That's good to hear about commuting to Greenslopes. Hubby is dialysis trained nurse and although he'll have to do the odd agency to begin with until we get settled staying in that area wouldn't be too out of the way for travelling.
Thanks
Ginny
