Malaysia Airlines
Hi all,
We are soon to be booking our flights for the end of October. Leg room is our priority, and we have already ruled Qantas out. We know Singapore have excellent service, but according to this.... http://www.uk-air.net/seatpitch.htm#table ... Malaysia has the best legroom of all!! Does anyone have any first hand experiences of this airline? Did they notice the 2" extra legroom, or do you think the information is wrong? Cheers, Gemma |

G That was the problem we found. We had to fly from Heathrow. It was ok going we stopped in a hotel in london the night before, but when we had to return it was to far to drive back to Bradford after that flight so we ended up stopping in a Hotel for the night. Sunshine23 |
Re: Malaysia Airlines
Flew Malaysia this year. Just booked to fly Malaysia again next year. Will be flying Malaysia when we finally emigrate too. Service is excellent. Can't comment on the 'normal' meals but the veggie meals were excellent. The amount of help and care received, as we were travelling with an infant too, was second to none. Made travelling with BA/Qantas feel like travelling freight! :scared:
Also, OH and I are 6' 1" & 6' respectively. The 34" pitch is definitely noticable!!!!! |
Re: Malaysia Airlines
Thanks so much for all your replies. We are tall people and 34" sounds soo much better than the alternatives.
Cheers, Gemma |

Cheers, Gemma We flew out here with Malasian Ailines this time around. The extra space did make a difference and the service was fantastic. Would definately fly with them again although the best flight I've ever had long haul was with Korean Air Marie |
Re: Malaysia Airlines
We (2 adults and 2 kids at the time under 5) have flown with both Malaysia and Singapore from London to Melbourne. For us Singapore were streets ahead. I'm 6'3" and yes I have no doubt an extra 2 inches may have made a difference but what made a greater difference was the service and the Singapore Air crew could not do enough with us.
Also on both flights we had about 4hrs to kill at stopover and KL airport is pathetic. At Singapore, a well kept secret is that for not very much money, you can make use of the air side hotel pool & facilities - we had been tipped off and all you need is something to where, everything else is provided down to a complimentary drink. For us, if travelling with youngish kids, Singapore will win hands down over Malaysian. No doubt others on this forum will disagree, but this is my/our opinion! S. |
Re: Malaysia Airlines
I have flown with Malaysian on numerous occasions and have never found faullt with them!

Re: Malaysia Airlines
I have used them previously and found them fantastic. however we used them this year without prior knowledge of their financial difficulties and they were dire, will never fly with them again, the plane was falling to bloody pieces, they had overbooked the flight, the food was abysmal and they didnt have enough meals for everyone. It truly was shocking.

Can't believe you have the proper bulkhead iseat i.e. by the escape hatches as they don't allow kids in the emergency exit aisles. Whischever way you do it, there is a fair chance you will have a cr*p journey but it is only temporary and worth it when you arrice! We however will not fly with Malaysia again, but it is personal and no doubt when we do a return trip again with another carrier we wil have a bad one! S. |

From KL to Melbourne we were on one that had seats in 3's - not very helpful (can't remember the actual plane types but no doubt someone can advise!) for a family of 4. The bulkhead seats (if they are the ones with the cot facility) actually have less legroom than normal becasue the bulkhead prevents you from stretchin out whereas a normal seat you can obvioulsy stretch out under the seat in front.

this one is quite a wriggler and hates being restrained, so could be a very interesting flight... she'll be 20mths old then. |
Re: Malaysia Airlines
We flew with malaysia end of August. We're on a 457 visa and had no problems with the baggage, we were an extra 10kg over the limit. Very helpful at check-in. The flight was longer than expected due to re-routing leaving only 20 mins to catch the connecting flight to Perth. Service on board was not a patch on BA, we travelled with 2 kids under 5, they recieved no goodie bags and were virtually ignored throughout both legs. Also food was not brilliant, you get a choice of 3 options just before thay serve, and you have to take whats left if your at the end. All they seemed to offer for refreshments was water & orange juice. Had to keep asking for tea or coffee. The extra 2" wasn't that noticable and I found the seats in economy uncomfortable. We certainly would't fly with them again, unless we're just unlucky.

Re: Malaysia Airlines
Flew with them twice to Oz from UK & Cape Town and thoroughly enjoyed both times. Had to put up with Shitty american flights since so nothing has come anywhere close! Take advantage of the reasonably priced hourly hotel room in KL, it's good to get a shower and stretch out. My hubby is also 6f 4 and built like the proverbial brick poop house and even he was not too cramped.
