Maintenance payments

Wondered if you guys can sort this out...
My wife and I and 3 children (two of which are stepchildren) are planning to head to Perth next month. The only two questions we have to ask are...

1. Are child maintenance payments which enter our account in Aus from the childrens father taxable? Do you enter them in your tax return?

2. Can a UK citizen with nothing more than a tourist visa buy and own a property in Aus and let it out...bit like timeshare in Spain?

Thanks guys

How is the child maintenance assessed? Is it a private deal/court order or CSA?

The reason I am asking this is that if the maintenance is paid visa the CSA. the father is no longer required to pay for the children if they leave the UK.....

With regards to the rest, I am sorry I cant help you :(

I am sure someone will be able to tho, wealth of knowledge on here :)

Just re-read your post.. I am assuming that you are not going for good seeing as you mentioned buying property on a tourist visa.. why would you transfer money and worry about tax if you were only there for a max of 3 months? You would end up paying more in fees probably..

Dear Yvonne,
No we are off for good...
The second question is for a very close friend of us who wants to have a holiday home there!

So ...the first question still applies.!:)

Thanks
