Madeley, WA
Anyone got any views on Madeley, WA for a young family?
- Pricey or not generally compared to nearby suburbs? - Lots of singles/hoons/parties? - Is it too close to Balga??! - Decent schools or facilities nearby - ie pools, gyms, malls? Anything really - its a new suburb so not much out there on it to date. |

Re: Madeley, WA
To the north is the Wangara light industrial area. To the south is the Kingsway shopping centre, which is quite large now, and next to that is a huge sports area and south of that the Marangaroo golf course. On the map, it looks like these 2 green areas would provide some sort of a barrier to the suburbs to the south. Marangaroo would be the dodgiest nearby suburb to the south, but that's pretty mild, when the next suburb south is Girrawheen and south of that is Balga. You can see some information on the community profile pages on the City of Wanneroo website http://profile.id.com.au/Default.asp...=210&type=enum.
As the homes in Madeley are fairly new, to me they seem fairly pricey for the location, east of Wanneroo Road, a couple of suburbs away from undesirable suburbs. On the plus side, the Madeley blocks are of a reasonable size for a newish sub-division, plus it's in the catchment for the new high school, Ashdale Secondary College, which looks good but little is known about it on BE. It would be worth looking at a couple of older areas to the west, where the homes wouldn't be as flash, but are closer to the beach and train line, such as Kingsley, Greenwood, Padbury and Craigie. |

I have just been down that way.It has mainly new houses.I do know that the Kingsway shopping centre is up for a revamp soon. There is also the Kingsway Sport centre down that way.A bit further down that way are some new shops and the Kingsway Tavern. It looks nice but perhaps too many houses row after row.Have you bought or rented. You must be happy to come back to Perth.:)
