mackay-schools and autism support

mackay-schools and autism support
hi all
we currently live in new zeland after moving here from the uk 6 months ago. There's my husband and I and we have 6 children oldest being 10 and youngest 5 months
we are really struggling in nz for numerous reasons and looking at a move to oz.
my husband is a nurse and has been offered a job in mackay, queensland.
our main concern right now is schools. can people give me any information at all on schools in mackay area. good? bad? costs? etc
our 8 year old has autism (aspergers) and the support here appears non existent. can anyone advise on autism support in schools and in the mackay area in general?
