Cool Ltbv Nz

We have read with interest views that have been posted in the last few months, we submitted our LTBV in London on 20th June 2003. It was recieved in Wellington on 12th July 2003. as of the beginning of Sept we were still in line to be processed although we had had our file reviewed(and told in principal it was fine). At this time they were processing the applications lodged in May 2003. Like others we have taken the plunge as we had sold the house and arrive in NZ on 26/10/03 on a nine month visitors visa while we await the LTBV. This does have advantages in the fact that we can find accomodation and get the kids in school and settled before we get stuck into the business. We are locating to Wellington although we will be flying into Christchurch where we have bought a vehicle as the prices are cheaper. Our bank accounts etc have all been set up from the UK. School places also confirmed after our research trip in May. If anyone is in process of LTBV application or thinking about applying we would be happy to share our knowledge of the process so far.
In three weeks time the adventure begins for us and the four children. Wellington here we come, it is not an easy route and we have done it ourselves and not used an immigration consultant, however it is possible and the result worth it.

Good luck
The Arnolds.

All the best, The Arnolds. We were considering a LTBV but decided against at this point but may come back to it. I am waiting to hear about a job in Wellington so any info on your arrival would be much appreciated. Just out of interest, did you buy your vehicle in Chch over the internet. If so, pls give some details assuming you are happy with the deal.

Hi Rob,
We are buying direct from an importer recommended to us by a friend who lives in Christchurch, we are getting a Toyota Landcruiser and are saving a few $1000 over getting it from a dealer. I will let you know how it goes when we land in Christchurch.
We are moving to an area of Wellington called Khandallah and again will let you know how we get on. It is a bit like the UK, you need to be in the right zone for certain schools.

Good luck with the job.

Khandallah is indeed a lovely part of Wellington with some lovely views out over the bay.

In case you missed the announcements, there is specialist forum to discuss all aspects of the LTBV as well as Setting Up and Doing Business in NZ, at www.benz1.com/forum. I would invite you to join us 'over there' to share your knowledge and experience.

Good luck for the move,
Ben

Hi Ben,
I did see you had posted these details the other day, I will be in touch as I feel it is important that we share our experiences. There are alot of us in the LTBV category from the UK and support is always welcome. We are hoping that we get our LTBV by the end of the year so that we can hit the New Year running. Although we will be in Wellington by 2/11/03 awaiting our home contents to arrive from the UK.

All the best

Kev

Hi,
We are still awaiting the right colour and spec to come in, second hand it will between $30 and $35,000 for a late 1999 model.

Cheers Kev.

Jamie Smith has suggested that NZIS are currently processing applications lodged in May '03 and that UK applications take around 3 months to process so you shouldn't have too long to wait and should definitely receive your LTBV well before your visitor visa expires.

Look forward to welcoming you on the other forum.

Ben,
You are right we were told at the beginning of Sept that they were processing May 03. However we could have had our application prioritised if we had been supported in writing by the Chamber Of Commerce as I was told by the Business Unit they would process applications out of date order if they were going to Wellington or the South Island and had this support. If I had known this before submitting I would have met criteria, to speed things up.
However things have worked out for the best and it will give us sometime to explore NZ and get the children settled before we officially start the business.
I have registered on your site and will get in touch soon.

KEV.
