There are no budget airlines that fly direct between Hong Kong and Brisbane (or in fact any Australian city). Sorry!

Looks like someone is looking at using oasis airlines

Looked into that myself, not cheap flights to HK

Low cost and any Australian airlines are 2 comments that I do not associate together.
Most of the time I could get a flight for a tenner (or less even a few pence on occasions) to most places I wanted to go to in Europe from England. In Oz I am yet to pay below $100 (usually closer to $200) for the flights I have taken.

certainly am, can get from UK to hk for £330 for two of us in july, the second stage is proving difficult!!

that would leave us with £900 to find flights from hk to brizzy, not looking good though

Not sure if the likes of Virgin Blue and jetstar will open those routes up becuase there parent company would suffer.

Jetstar does fly from Hong Kong to Singapore, from Singapore to Cairns, and from Cairns to Brisbane. Just for a laugh, I put in 16th July, and the total came up to £357, excluding surcharges, fees and taxes. It's likely the total for 2 might be just under £900 for the 3 sectors. However they don't do flight connection, which means you have to pick up your bags and re-check them in for each sector. And if the connection times aren't right, you may have to wait for many hours for your next flight...

July's unfortunately high season for travelling so it's highly unlikely you'll get good deal for travelling then on major airlines.

Have you checked out Royal Brunei Airlines?

They have a service from Hong Kong to Brisbane via Brunei (Bandar Seri Begawan) and the transit time is only one hour.....it's such a tiny airport with just a few flights a day.

I've flown with RB from Singapore to London (via Dubai) and also from Singapore to Brisbane (via Bandar) and they're not a bad airline to fly with at all.

When I lived in Singapore 'Royal Brunei' was certainly much cheaper than flying with Singapore Airlines, Malaysian, BA & Qantas.

http://www.bruneiair.com/index.asp

It has a 4* (out of 5) airline quality rating:

Hope this helps!
