Look on www.seek.com.au to get some agency names. Someone else might have more direct information.

I had the impression there was a shortage of workers for the oil/mine fly in/out jobs, at the moment I am struggling to find any work in Australia

Unless highly skilled and that skill is in short supply, you may find that impression just another urban myth doing the rounds here.

It's a funny industry. Some people walk into it and breeze through with easy, others get nowhere. Why, I don't know, but it seems to me that if you are chasing work, then it never happens.

I am starting to have second thoughts about moving to Australia, if there is no work out there, what's the point,

There is loads of work, you just have to have the right skills. These oddly don,t always seem to match he SOL list.

Apart from what everyone else has said ----- with your qualifications no problems.
You will have to qualify your certificates this side --cannot see that being a problem.
Health & safety courses to attend = couple of days plus heights and confined space training again couple of days.
Agency's Monadelphous/Activo are two of many hiring, whether you go on permanent or shutdowns.----Good luck!

unless your in a highly desirable profession or know someone going up on the mines isn't going to happen. I quit my mining job in 2009 glad I don't work up there anymore but it's personal preference.

My husband works in a mine in Queensland and they hired 40 people last week. Not one person on that mine that my husband knows even knew that they were looking never mind hiring.
Its a funny old thing to get into and from what I can see, to get in you either have to know people or do it through sheer bloody luck. Same with the rigs despite there seemingly being so many jobs going.
