Default Looking round houses on reccie

Hello
So we are off to Perth and Brsbane during the easter holidays. It is a bit of a flying visit due to school but we are hoping it will help decide Perth or Brisbane. We want to look round some houses while we are there and maybe speak to some firms who build houses (land and house packages). Anyone else done this?

It is a bit cheeky as we will be looking at houses that we can't buy yet but it would be great to see what we could get for our money and what we could get built.

Does anyone have any agencies they would recommend in Brisbane or Perth? We have been on real estate .com loads but if anyone knows of greatagents who are helpful and that are easily located that would be fab.

Also how would we go about viewing new houses that we buy off plan.

Any help would be fantastic.
Thanks

Hi cant speak for Brisbane, but when we were in Perth we looked around loads of houses even though we couldnt buy, a lot have open days so you can just walk in!!

As for new builds, you'll find lots of show houses; they have reps in them who will show you plans and what you can have, change around etc.

Enjoy your trip

Dont know about Brisbane but when we were in Perth we went into every house that had an 'open house' sign on! There are loads at weekends and it just gives you a general idea of what you can get for your money. As far as new builds go there are a few estates full of show houses from different builders that you can wander around and view the styles and talk to builders.

Hey, course you can look around. We went to Melbourne last August and me, hubby and 2 kids spent 2 days looking around show houses. Kids thought it was fantastic and wanted to buy them, we got the brochures to show our friends. The company sales people are more than happy to provide prices and the glossies, in Melbourne anyway! Can only remember one name, Meridian? If you go on www.realestate.com.au you can look at new land and house packages by various builders in all states and new land developments. Hope this helps.

Not to the extent that I did - you left out the most important bit - the glossies.

Scout through www.realestate.com.au and then you simply phone the agent that will have the mobile number directly and arrange a viewing. Alternatively - and less leading people up the garden path with false hopes and viewings (not to mention getting them to tidy round etc)- look in the local papers and you will find a list of open houses to go to. Weekends you can simply spend a whole day trooping from one house to the next.

Show homes are also good and you can spend days going around them. They are usually located near each other on newish estates. In Brisbane have a look for show home locations first on the web from any of the builders. For example :

http://www.adenbrookhomes.com.au/
www.mccarthyhomes.com.au
www.ausbuild.com.au

etc etc

You can spend days doing show homes and quite a good way of seeing different Australian styles without putting people out. Real estate agents will not be too chuffed at spending time with people not living here yet.
