As at 10:16
Australian Labor Party 4,706,306 50.74%
Liberal/National Coalition 4,568,619 49.26%
Very, very close, with possibly 73 seats each.

Re: Looking like a coalition minority govt
It could be 75-75
I always add Greens to ALP, hence my 73-73 before.

Would not bet against going back to the polls within a year
Problem is this result might spook the markets as whatever the outcome a strong government now seems unlikley.
Yep, see that now.

We said goodbye to that when Kevin Krudd gave the biggest surplus ever away to work shy tossers to buy Chinese flat screens
How labour can say they alone kept us out of recession is unbelievable. A four year old could have kept us out of recession with that kind of cash

You also have to add the Get up vote which I do not think is being counted today as they are declaation votes. Assuming the figure of 100,000 thats about 650 per seat but most likley heavily weighted to inner city (university) seats.
I still that think the ALP can get 73 seats in its own right.
Still a disaster for Labor though.
