Looking for advice on Melbourne

Looking for advice on Melbourne
Hello everyone, I'm completely new to all this, but am looking for a bit of advice. I've been offered a job in Melbourne, and am just trying to work out if the pay and conditions are reasonable.
I've been offered $110K (before superann is taken off), and wondered if this would be a decent enough wage to survive on. I'm a single guy, so would have no dependents, but would like to match the lifestyle I had in the UK, in that I'd like a nice place (with a spare room for visitors), a decent motor, and be able to socialise and enjoy myself without worrying too much about my bank balance. I'd also like to live within walking distance of where I'd work (Kew). Is this realistic on $110K?
Also, whats the deal with my getting a car loan on arrival. Its vital I have a car for my job (I'm a traffic engineer), but may need finance. Ideally I'd have sold my house in the UK, and wouldn't need to worry about it, but my sale seems a little precarious, so I may need to rent it out, and therefore I wouldn't have the capital behind me, and could need to get a loan.
Thanks in advance for your help

110k is a good wage for a corporate position in Melbourne.
As a guide, you should be able to have the same lifestyle on roughly double the dollars that you earned in £s in the UK.
So £55,000 = $110,000 in lifestyle roughly.
Kew is not cheap, but not super-expensive either.

Thanks for the advice Buzzy, the money sounds just fine.
Never thought of myself as "corporate" before, just a simple working class northerner...........

I'm a traffic engineer, which basically means I design roads and road systems. Its normally linked to planning applications, so if a developer wants to build something I'll design the roads, the accesses and all the car parking etc. There's also more a "green" focus to it as well, trying to encourage people to use other modes of transport. Although I'm not sure how successful I'll be in getting Aussies out of their gas guzzling Holdens.

Without credit history you'd most likely need atleast a 20% deposit, ID, payslips and a permanent address.
