Smile long term renting

Morning everyone,

Can anyone please tell me if people rent houses or apartments long term? We dont have a house to sell and wont have alot of savings, so renting is our only option at first.....Do they also rent out council properties like england? (hope to be in Perth early 2006).

Thanks everyone,

Dawn x

Hi Dawn,

We rented for 1 year before buying, but I now of people who have rented for years, usually private rentals, council housing is called commission housing and it is normally those who don't work and are claiming benefits. Housing commission is usually poor quality from what I have seen anyway. Somebody else may tell you differently.

The place we have just left was rented by The Bloke for 11 years. This one is really good, so we may well stay here that long too.

In case this helps, 26% of properties in Perth are long term rented, as opposed to being lived in by the owners.

Renting does seem very popular in Australia.

Since my first visit back in 1991 it has always seemed the norm over in Australia and more geared up than the UK, though more furnished and semi furnished in the UK.

Good luck

Hi Dawn
Have you tried checking out properties in Perth, to see the prices etc.
Try going to www.msn.com.au, then down the side there should be lots of links, press real estate, then once on that page just enter Rentals, the area, the state you want or postcode, & hopefully that will show you all the properties & the prices, just to give you an idea.
Also you could try going to www.ask.co & entering real estate in Perth.
Hope this helps
Paula

Average rental prices in perth are about $250 per week......usually for a 4 x 2.

Homes west is the name of the local authority that allocates housing.....only to lower income families.
