It's no big deal to the locals. Locals don't go to these areas. Therefore it shouldn't be a big deal to you. Branch out, discover somewhere else other than the Rocks.
Well no actually. Loads of international tourists wanting to sample Sydney's 'night life' in attendance as well. No matter where, from Newtown to Coogee/Randwick less than impressive night life for a city of such statue.

Keep shuffling the pieces and someday, Zulu old bean, perhaps the answer will reveal itself by default. If a chimp can arrive at the answer, every confidence, over time, you can.

Sample away. Nothing stopping them or geriatric party boys like yourself.

Actually, I'm being a bit unfair towards you - you're German and probably don't know what Airstrip One is

Fair enough, but it would go someway to explaining the alternative universe that you live in

Haven't been in it yet but, yes, it goes underground. My husband can't wait for a cinema less than 500m from home.

Too many comments to try to quote properly but, Troubadour, I think you're missing my point. I don't know anyone that lives here that goes out on the piss in the city centre. We may go in to restaurants but I assure you I'm more of a quality than quantity kind of a girl; I'm a card carrying champagne socialist

I think you're seeing the city from a visitor's viewpoint, even if you have spent extended periods here. Not many of us locals go to Darling Harbour on a Saturday night (thank you Time Out for that reference).

It the same as the Jersey crowd coming into Manhattan for a night out or the Essex girls hitting the City of London for a rich banker.

Like you, no one I know goes to Darling Harbour, CBD or Rocks for a night out. It's full of bogans.

I like the look of the swimming pool and surrounding area.

Ho. Hum. Life rolls on. Kids should never live their lives around what the grandparents want. It's their life, not the grandparents life.
Totally agree. My in-laws who don't know my kids only live 5 minutes away but can't be bothered to do anything with them, my parents who live much further away are the ones that come to every sports day, school play, ballet performance, rugby match. They know my kids inside out, they know all their mates, they know what they like to eat, how to comfort them when they're ill etc. So I'm not saying that distance is a sole factor in that, but IMO it's hard to be as close to grandchildren if you live on the other side of the world and can only do that kind of thing once a year or even less.

Quite typical of a certain Aussie, inability to debate without being abusive. Luckily I'm better looking, likely more far more well hung, and loads more doodle than you and way beyond being geriatric. Best back to your attempt at flogging condo's I suppose.

There is definitely hope even being a champers drinker, to which I largely detest. Look again, if I'm required to repeat, I'm not denying Sydney has attractions. My point being London is superior and if already set up there, the reasoning and expectations of moving to Sydney, should perhaps be closely examined. Not many Londoners go to West end either, but no denying it has its place in that city's milieu of places to go.
I stayed longest in North Shore, Willoughby, for goodness sake hardly a tourist. I don't often venture to Darling Harbour. Usually stay on other occasions in Randwick/Coogee and Newtown. Last year it was Potts Point. Hardly a tourist as visit well established folk and know the inn's and outs. But not a local obviously.

Well no I'm not German, just as your not Australian. I'm ever grateful, I don't inhabit your universe though. Airstrip one a form of comic relief on your part I expect.
