Default Loft space

We've been looking at lots of houses lately and storage space looks like being an issue for us. (I got rid of all my crap in the UK hubby brought his with him!). Most people don't seem to use loft space over here but is it a possibility? Is there a good reason they don't use it? Does it get just too hot up there?
Any ideas anyone?

Thank you

Loopy

We know some peeps who built their own house and had the roof designed specifically so they could turn it into an attic room at a later date. You'll notice that most attics have very little space as they are all rafters n stuff.

Don't know much else m'fraid

I had ducted aircon fitted this week. The fitter was up in the attic doing the ducting and installing the internal unit. I asked him what temperatures he works in up in the attics during summer. Answer 60-70 centigrade.

That's hot enough to cook stuff. So be careful what you put up there. It'll probably perish.

A fair percentage of aussie houses have under-space - airy and usually net fenced off. Unless you are in a low lying space it should also be dry

Oh well. we'll have to keep looking for a house that's a bit bigger AND a shed (he needs a big one of those anyway). Perth houses don't seem to have under areas, only seen a few on the much older properties but the majority of the millions of new houses don't have them.

Thanks anyway, another idea out the door!
