locking your diy container?
hi,
can anyone tell me,how do you secure the container once you have loaded it up? can i put my own heavy duty padlock on it? ,or do the shippers secure it with some kind of seal? the last thing i want is things going missing, and sealing with own lock would give me some sort of peace of mind. Any replies will be appreciated and thanks in advance. regards varsani |
Re: locking your diy container?
I dont thik you can lock it because customs will want to inspect it at the various ports of load/unload .
When the container is sealed it is sealed with a numbered tamper-proof seal by the container company, they should give you the number. Then when you get to unload it ( which you wont because it'll be done by the people in the docks ) they check the seal corresponds to hte one on the shipping manifest and isnt broken. If customs break it then they re-seal it with a new seal / number and tell the shippers . |
