Default Location dilema.

Hi.our last thread was a tester because we were having some technical hitches getting on to the forum.Any way finally on.After 7 houses,3 rentings and a failed emigration to Perth we are again on the march, this time to BRISSIE,may as well get into the local lingo.Any way we could do with a little help on where to live,We have 3 children 2 of which are teenagers and like lots of you out there, you"ll know that they need you as their own personnal taxi service. That, we thought, was one of the merits of living in the city, they would have plenty to entertain them and the local bus/river servce would make them more independent. On the other hand the coast looks brilliant but would probably involve more running around. Our jobs are plumber and nurse respectively and we also thought we might not need to travel as much if we lived in the city.We like the look of the area from St lucia around towards Paddington. Is this a good location for schools( 11 year olds),colleges, local amenities etc. Also are there any groups or clubs who meet up for get togethers, which would help with the support/settling in process for people like us who don"t know anyone.TTFN.Mr W.

Hi, welcome!

Best off to drive around and see the areas you like and what feels right. There ae built up arewasa around the coast too. Gold coast is a s built up as brissie but with a beautiful beach(rather than a lagoon on the south bank) and seaworld and theme parks etc.

You dont have to live there but its only 1hrs drive from brissie and there are plenty of places other than the city area. If you insist on city then have a look at Bowen hills and aroound Sydney street, as they are very nice areas with a Lovely park in new farm(bowen hills) and New farm is just about in zone 1 making it very cheap and brilliant to get into town as there are buses every 15 mins and the seacat ferries are running from both these points and all are accessable on one daily ticket(along with trains too).

I havent been to the other places but i am led to believe that New Farm is quite a welltodo sort of place an very clean with a few bars and cafes and a little shopping precint. BUT- just for the girls there is a cinema in new farm and 10 mins walk down the road is FORTITUDE VALLEY. A sort of trendy area(a bit like camden with expensive pretty boy bars next to some ultra cool get down and dance sports of places) so that covers quite a broad spectrum for one area.

We were going for new farm originally as we were going to work in the city and then buy the beachside, but we are now in a position to buy nr the beach straight away so we are looking all up and down the coast on a 3 weeks validation trip in nov.

Youll get friends from this site, or in your new jobs so dont despair, as being a nurse you wont have timnew to socialise!!LOL (means laugh out loud)
Best of luck and hope this helps any
