Does anyone know or have experience if yoiu can get a loan/ car finance on a 457 visa, we arrive on Gold coast in Jan 09, we would like to get a nearly new car on a loan / finance agreement, we can put a decent deposit on it, I am led to believe that you can only get the loan term for 4 yrs, ( same as visa ), Has anyone done this, and has anyone done it on Gold Coast, Please help ???

I bought a car on HP when I arrived from the local Toyota dealer. Am sure, especially as you have a deposit to put down, that you'll be fine. Might struggle to get a credit card though unless you have a fiar bit of cash in your bank account.

Yes, you can get finance for a car on arrival. However terms will be for the length of your visa. eg if 457 visa is 3 years that is how long you have to pay off the car.
Also you may need a bigger deposit.
I know that a big Nissan showroom offered us car finance a week after arriving.

Loans is another matter, banks are not so easy to get finance or credit cards.
I have not tried a loan, but on the ANZ it says PR visa required for some of their loans.

PS, ask for Visa debit, as the usual OZ bank card is just for in shops not internet.
