Default Living in Sydney on AUD 80k.

My buddy has just got a job offer in Sydney, but no account on this site, so he wants me to post a message for him. Job is 80k per year, 9% super. Will he be able to live in Sydney OK on 80K per year? He has no family, just his girlfriend, she will not work intially, but maybe get some work in future. No wish for extravagant life, would like to rent 2 bed with terrace say bondi or something.

How do you think he is going to get on.

I will pass any comments to him.

Thanks.

Depends on his lifestyle but I would reckon he could do it. Some people appear to manage on a lot less.

There are many thousands of schoolteachers (and many other occupations) WITH families who can manage to survive in Sydney on less than $80K so the answer has to be yes.

Agreed. I'll be lucky to get 50K in my profession when I start off, but I know it will be enough for my modest needs.

Bring home about 4.5K pcm, spend max 2k on rent in Bondi, leaves 600+ per week for everything else. Sounds alright to me, but depends what sort of lifestyle as has been pointed out.

$300 per week for a small rental in Bondi would be OK.
