Default Living at Airlie Beach?

Hi there,

My husband has just been offered a job working on Hayman Island, this would mean my 15 year old daughter and myself would relocate from Perth to Airlie beach, can anyone tell me what it's actually like living there? Is there enough to do for a 15 year old girl? I will also need an admin job or similar,

Thanks in advance

Don't think there's anything much outside of tourism.
It's one of the main hotspots on the East Coast for backpackers.

There would be plenty there for her to do.

Whether you would really want her doing it or not is another matter

I went up there on holiday just before I left. I always imagine these places to be idyllic but when you get there, no not much to do. You would have to be happy with very simple pleasures in life. I think I could cope with it for a short term, but not sure about a 15 year old.

Yes equally unimpressed. We have friends with a boat there. They go every weekend to escape 4 adult kids who live at home! As for a 15 year old unless she is one of those 100% beach sport water Qld kids I don't think much to do. Backpacker scene and associated lifestyle once 18 . We had 2 weekends there, the relaxed constant beach boat bbq bores me to but our friends just love it.
