Default lively brisbane/gold coast suburbs

Hi, we are a couple in our early 30's looking for a place in the brisbane/gold coast area. We've got 3 dogs and no kids so would like a big garden (pool is a must!) house budget is up to $600k ish.

Hoping to find somewhere with good nightlife nearby and lots of walking trails, coastal is not necessary but would be a bonus.

We'd really appreciate any suggestions.

Cheers, Vanessa and Dave

Thats a massive area. Brisbane alone is huge, but how far down the gold coast etc ? You kinda need to be a bit more specific as to what you need.

Sorry to not be more specific but we don't know the area at all and would appreciate any suggestions. Vanessa may have a job in Beenleigh so anywhere nearish there might be good. I guess we'd ideally like to be between Brisbane and Gold Coast (ie south brisbane north gold coast or anywhere between), realize its a big area but any suggestions of specific areas/suburbs to help narrow our search would be great.

Have a look at this posting I made. Some useful replies, especially the info from Netta. I checked out all of the burbs, and I'm living in West End and loving it. You won't get a house for 600k with a large garden here, but will give you something to think about.

In our council (Redland) we are only allowed to have 2 dogs per property and I think many other councils have similar rule. You'll probably need council approval to have a third dog.

For lively night life you'll need to live very close to Brisbane CBD, but then you won't have a very big garden (When you say big I'm thinking at lease 1000m2 but then you might have a different definition than I) and a pool for $600k close to the city.

Not sure about the Gold Coast. I'm sure someone else living there will offer their opinion.

Well Beenleigh is out then. Ghastly place and as far as I know has less nightlife than the nearest graveyard The liveliest area on the GC is obviously Surfers/Broadbeach/Main Beach but you are highly unlikely to get a place with a large garden and a pool for 600 around there. Central Brissie will obviously have the nightlife but I don't know anything about suburbs up there although there have been stacks of threads over the years.

Depends on what you call "close" - are you thinking of walking distance or driving distance etc. There are some nice acreage areas between Beenleigh and Brissie - Tanah Merah sort of area - but you would be looking at a good half hour drive north or south to nightlife but you would find the space for the dogs.

Sorry to not be more helpful.

Hi
How about looking at Helensvale? There are nice bars and resturants there also regarding the third dog you will have to speak to the council - all dogs need to be registered as they seem to have a habit of getting out and you have to pay a large fine if the dog warden picks it up with out the tag. We have 2 dogs from the UK have a look at this website http://www.goldcoast.qld.gov.au/t_st...2.aspx?pid=392
Thanks

thanks for all the help guys

When we say nightlife a few local, walkable watering holes and restaurants would suffice. We can get a taxi to the happening spots when we feel the urge! Main priority are some nice walking trails and a nice house with some acreage.

Thanks again

I agree with Moneypen, don't even think about Beenleigh. A graveyard probably has MORE nightlife actually

Also Helensvale is just a short drive to the hinterland and tamborine mountain

We just came back from a recce of Brisbane and you won't get a property with acreage near amenities for $600K - no chance. You'd need upward of $900K. If you accept living in a real rural area with the accompanying need to drive everywhere you'll get your place, but not otherwise.

Palm Beach doesn't have the best reputation but it's picking up and becoming a so called "hot spot". You won't get acreage or large blocks though. We are a few minutes back from PB and it's fab here but you are looking at a good 40 minutes plus drive to Beenleigh out of rush hour. We have acreage but there's not a lot available now. For acreage down this end you would be looking at Tallebudgera and Currumbin Valleys and they're stunning areas but quiet although only about 10 minutes drive to the sea and close enough to Coolangatta and Tweed Heads which are loaded with bars and restaurants and the beaches down this end are mainly dog friendly.

Palm Beach has a few bars and restaurants. Check out some areas of Burleigh - you can get decent sized blocks and acreage for reasonable money and Burleigh Heads has a reasonable amount of pubs and restaurants and you'd be about half an hour's drive from Beenleigh.
