Re: Live 8
after watching pink floyd which i recorded last night to give them the benefit of the doubt, just as i thought like a get together at a sons of rest retirement home, boring boring hardly set the place alight altough they did set the mood but it was a gloomy type of mood as opposed to an uplifting one that it should of been for an act near the end........
oh yeah and gilmour has great bitch tits.. :D best acts for me robbie, velvet revolver and the who... |

This is the reason for this concert. To raise awareness, not money. On a lighter note, I thought Coldplay were smashing, Keane also - I missed the Killers . The tape ended so didn't get to see the end which was disappointing but all in all, I thought it was just brilliant. I think Bob Geldoff commands an enormous amount of respect (without trying). my one criticism is that there wasn't enough African presence, it's like having a party for someone and not inviting them...but sending them the presents. |
Re: Live 8
If someone had asked me to write a list of the most boring acts in the world it would read:
U2, Coldplay, Madonna, Elton John, Travis, Robbie Williams etc... The only decent band there were the Floyd. Where were your Queens of the Stone Age, System of a Down, White Stripes, Foo Fighters, Neptunes, Beastie Boys? Best thing for the Africans would be for their corrupt leaders to sort themselves out. Getting rid of the debt will only mean more trips to Harrods for Mrs Mugabe and her entourage. |

Live8 will achieve nothing, same as Live aid, just more corruption and bloodshed. Mortrality rates are higher and individual wealth is lower in Africa than it was pre live aid. More would be achieved in Africa if we did nothing and let them get on with it, the west should'nt feel guilty for the failings of other countries. If you pay people for doing nothing then nothing is exactly what they will do. |

Re: Live 8
Floyds sales up 1000% since live 8 BUT they have said :
Pink Floyd have pledged to donate all profits made as a result of last weekend’s Live 8 concert to charity and urged other performers to do the same. The legendary band reformed especially for the gig after more than 20 years of hostility. Their album sales have rocketed, with fans flocking to record stores to buy copies of the band’s greatest hits album. Sales of Echoes: The Best Of Pink Floyd are up 1,343% at HMV, but guitarist David Gilmour said he would not profit from the smash-hit show. “Though the main objective has been to raise consciousness and put pressure on the G8 leaders, I will not profit from the concert, he said in a statement. |
