Although the world is in a global crisis Australia has faired pretty well, you will not find it hard to gain employment. Victoria is the place to be, close to melbourne would be better for you

Re: Life in Victoria
my car seems to be serviced a lot more frequently over here, every 10,000 kilometres, so this should be good news for you, but cars do not need MOT's over here, only need similar (roadworthy checks) when sold. Strong older car market here as they seem to last longer (little rust) so think there should be a fair bit of work around.

Victoria has faired a lot more than NSW for starters and has a better economy also. To be honest Australia in general has not been hit as hard as the rest of the world and things are not majorly desperate here and to be honest I dont feel any real negativity. In general It pretty OK, you would be worse of in most others places at this momenet in time
