Default Life in the Hunter Valley region

We are part way through are application to australia, are TRA was sent off 3weeks ago and we have just handed are applicaton form back in to the company we are going with. We are currently looking at Forster, tuncurry, Dungog area to live with our 2 boys aged 3 and 8. Reasons for leaving the UK as with alot of people is better life, weather and more of an outdoor life, My husband is an upolsterer so he is looking to set up his own business when we get out there, just wondered if anyone has any info on the area as im not doing very well just searching on the web. Preferably lookinhg for a house with land as I would like some horses. Would like to know what the place is like to live there.
Much thanks

Hello Nat & Ell, welcome to the forum. We have applied for a Contributory parent Visa to be able to join our son and daughter-in-law who live in the Hunter Region. They live in Charlestown, Newcastle. It is very nice there but we went over in Nov/Dec last year and had a good reccie and loved the Dungog, Gloucester, Stroud area - it is just so lovely and green and spacious!! You could certainly have horses there!! We loved the area and intend to settle probably in Dungog or Gloucester which is about an hour's drive door to door to our son. The main shopping area with more than enough shops is Raymond Terrace but Dungog and Gloucester also had a pleasant shopping street and had a really nice feel. You could try e.mailing the information office in Dungog or Gloucester to get some info sent to you. They were extremely helpful to us when we were there. Also you could contact real estate agents in those towns. Might be nice to keep in touch if you would like to. We are presently living in Devon and are hopeful to have our visa by October this year. Have heard today that we are about to become grandparents - so definitely want to be in Oz by January!!!!
Regards Linda & Keith
