Question Life in Brisbane's Bayside - What's it like?

Seems like there's a few posters living in and around Brisbane's Baysides.

Would love to hear what you like/dislike about the area. Things such as shops, schools, restaurants/takeaway,leisure etc.

Any comments would be nice.

Cheers

Space.

Green.

Space.

Laid back.

Water.

Poincianas.

End of the line (can't build any more suburbs further out).

Clean.

No in your face industry.

Country town feel.

DOWNSIDE
Having to listen to the train leaving Cleveland station 5 kms away

We live bayside, Ormiston in fact nd love it here. There are nice local shops and plenty of restaurants a few minutes away. It is a nice quiet area with a direct train line into the city if you need it.

Not like Liverpool then, where the police cordoned off the street as they found a suspicious looking item.....

Hi

We went to Brisbane in October to validate and really liked Cleveland.
So will let you know in about 6 months if ever we sell our house!

Good luck

We trawled all the suburbs I think trying to find a place to live and we had friends in Wello Point. This probably set us against moving to where we did, but in the end there was nothing to compare to my mind. Boy did we try to find somewhere else to avoid stalking our mates

Bayside has a thriving population, excellent infrastructure when compared to some westerly or northern suburbs, the sea (I walk my dog in the surf), lower temperatures and those really important breezes and its 25km into the city.

Shops ? We have local shops, cafes and restaurants in Wello Point. Cleveland is big and has pretty much everything you could want. Vicky Point has a large shopping centre and push comes to shove you are relatively near the huge Carindale Centre.

What I dont like about it is that its mainly built out so you wont find large plots to build on and housing is expensive in some of the areas, comparatively to inland. I'd love acreage but its a trade off here.

The further south you go down the coast its slightly less expensive as you head toward Reddy Bay and Mount Cotton but thats heading further from Brisbane and the infrastructure (schools, shops public transport) has not had time to fully develop there but will explode in the next few years with the ongoing Brissy migrant influx I suspect.

All things said - I dont think I would want to live anywhere else

Hi

We have lived in Cleveland now for just over 10 weeks and have just bought our own house here.

We love it as it has everything you could want really.
Also its in the middle of the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast.
It has that spacious on holidat feel about it with its coffee shops and restaurants, has its own livrary which is ace, take aways and plenty to do all the time. This Saturday we have Christmas at the harbour which is music and shows going on for kids and adults also food stalls.
Cleveland State school is where Aimee goes and I can't moan. She has swimming lessons once a week in their own outdoor pool and the lessons are for an hour (in the UK they were for 20 mins if she was lucky)

To sum it up its supercalifragilisticexpialidosious!!!!!

But we do have storms really bad (but so do all the other suburbs.

See you here then shall I??
