Default Is leukaemia a barrier to PR

Hi all & Seasons Greetings,
Does anyone have any insight into medicals for pr as my wife has Multiple Maeloma which was diagnosed 2 months after getting here. Were going from a temp visa 457ie to pr after meeting all criteria, but are extremely worried about the obvious hurdle. Weve done all the hard yards, she's been in remission now nearly 2 years in fact. God knows how we got this far, but were kinda getting really jittery, we want it so bad, of course we wanted life more & our prayers have been answered there, just had to have a greedy self indulgent moment. Life is certainly stranger than fiction, but I guess weve come this far, it would be nice to stick your head up over the parapet & see wtf is comming next:scared:
Hope you can help, enjoy yourselves.

Can't really answer your question, but this post may be of interest. I would read it all, but watch out for a post by George Lombard on page 2.

Good luck,

Ask on the immigration forum but my advice is:

- Definitely get professional advice from an agent who understands these issues (not all do). Cancer is generally an issue unless there is a 3 year clear period.

- HOWEVER, there is scope in some circumstances for a health waiver on permanent business visas

- The final route for appeal is, if refused by both DIMA and the Migration Review Tribunal, is an application to the Minister for personal discretion under section 351 of the Migration Act.
