Leather Suites
Is it advisable to buy a leather suite in the UK and transport it over to OZ or buy the suite in OZ?

We bought a new leather suite last summer and will be taking it with us. At £3,000 it's not going to recoup its' purchase cost if we tried to sell it so it's going with us. Anyway it was specially made and also has a sofa bed so it's virtually an extra bedroom! Must treat it with creams etc before we go. :rolleyes: BTW leather suites are expensive in Australia or so I'm told. |

You can buy leather stuff from about $3000 a suite now, but like much stuff here its cheap and nasty quality, you definately pay for what you get. Having said that in the hotter climates leather is not a great choice, there you are shorts and singlet, 37 degrees try to lift yourself off couch and you have stuck to it, rather like waxing yourself off the damn thing. |

We are DEF taking our leather sofas as they are only 18 months old and we paid just under 3 grand for them. They are of the best grade leather and are recliners as well, so for us its worth taking them. If we tried to sell them here in the UK....well no, thats not an option!! So yes its worth taking them! (in my eyes!! :) )
I have to add though they do need a lot of 'care' ie leather cleaners and conditioner. This way they will stay nice and supple! ;) Best of luck whatever you decide, (you could get one off DFS and do a runner!!! Only joking!! :D ) |

Having said that in the hotter climates leather is not a great choice, there you are shorts and singlet, 37 degrees try to lift yourself off couch and you have stuck to it, rather like waxing yourself off the damn thing.

Hmm yes and that is a valid point Kelli ! ;) We are planning on having air conditioning (fingers crossed!) so hopefully the 'sticky-stuck-to-the-sofa' feeling wont be a problem! :D
