Last 48 hours in the UK
After two years of stress and worry going through the visa process, it's nearly time for us to leave the UK. :scared:
Our little house is now empty and, after a lot of hard work, newly decorated, carpeted and spotlessly cleaned from top to bottom. I hope the tenants look after it.
We finished work last Friday -- we're now officially unemployed, eek! -- and we have had several wonderful, happy leaving parties with all our friends, family and colleagues. We'll take some great memories with us. It somehow doesn't feel like we're leaving people behind, yet, but I'm sure there'll be more tears before we go.
We've just had a trial run at packing our suitcases and now we've got to decide which items we will discard at the check-in desk if they're really strict about our baggage allowance.
We fly one-way from Manchester to Kuala Lumpur (via Heathrow) on Thursday evening, then straight on to Melbourne arriving on Saturday morning to begin our new life.
Best of luck to everyone who is currently in the visa process, you'll get there eventually and, believe me, when the visa comes through you'll suddenly find you weren't prepared for it despite the long wait.
See you on the other side.

Know just how you feel. My son and I leave for Melbourne next Monday, hubby following ASAP and this week has been v. strange. Nothing has been as I thought it would be and somehow it doesn't matter. Been spending time with my daughter who I am leaving behind and doing all the goodbyes. Haven't even thought about packing yet!
Enjoy your last few days and maybe catch up with you in Melbourne.
