laptops??

Just wondering whether to buy a laptop at Singapore stopover or once we landed in Oz. What would be the cheapest deal? :(

Hi, I found that electronics in Singapore airport were not much different in price than in the UK. I'm not sure how that compares these days with Australia.

By the way, I have responded to your PM - please send me your email address.

Thanks

Just be aware that if you bring laptops into Australia they will search the hard drive at customs for porn.

Ha ha! It may be a bit hard to write porn to a brand new laptop between Singapore and Australia but I suppose it could be done!

It's just the shame of being pulled aside from the queue for porn in full sight of everybody, whether there is any or not.

Passenger "I swear, it's brand new. Just bought it in Singapore"

Customs "Yeah right. That's what they all say pervert."

 You are pulling his leg aren't you?

As if they would have the time to do that. We brought 2 laptops in and not one person even asked to look at them in addition to the external hard drives and desk top we shipped over.

Actually no. Now, when you get given the customs declaration card on the plane there is a section that says "are you carrying pornography?". This was introduced about October/November last year under the radar.

Quite a few people have been taken into the back room and had their hard drives checked...

Welcome to Australia!

UK Customs? Where? Never seen them. Do they even exist?

Bit of an oxymoron really. A bit like military intelligence.

So your initial post is incorrect. They'll actually only search your hard drive for porn if you indicate on the declaration card that your laptop contains porn! Or you look dodgy!!

Only a n00b keeps porn on their hard drive or dvds.

They'll never find mine, it's up in the 'cloud'!! :p
