Red face Laptop dilema (again)

Do I order the high spec £500 one from Tiny which will take up to 3 weeks to arrive and if anything is wrong with it on arrival I'll be buggered as it'll be really tight to get it sorted before I leave.

Do I get one from Dell, but not the Inspiron the more basic business latitude one
with no thrills but less chance of going wrong £539.

Do I get the Dell inspiron more thrills but If I make enough fuss will be able to get them to repair it in oz

Do I get a lower spec Fujitsu-seimans or Toshiba one that has a worldwide warranty

Please help I just can't make up my mind

We got an inspiron earlier this year. Cant fault it one bit. The warranty covers use in Oz too (according to the salesman).

The only problem was the couriers, bloody idiots lost it, broke it or stole it, but it went missing on the way to us so Dell had to build another and send again (using it different courier)

This is what I'm worried about we leave here in six weeks and it doesn't leave much room for cock ups.

Also a poster on here who's name escapes me had problems with dell when he tried to use the warranty they said he wasn't covered in Oz, although he got sorted after e-mailing Dell's chairman

Tiny - truly the Ronco of the PC market. Get the Dell.

We bought a Sony laptop, cost a lot but it's a lovely bit of kit and we were able to buy a worldwide warranty for not much more money (plus when I had problems registering it on line I spoke to a lovely guy who answered the phone promptly and understood my problem and fixed it in the fastest time anyone could hope for (unlike the reputation Dell have for customer service).

I also wouldn't touch Tiny.

Have you also checked Dell's factory outlet section on their website as there were some good deals on it when I last looked with some £800 to £1000 laptops being sold for under £500.

We have just got a Dell Inspiron 510m. Ordered online on the Sunday, got an e-mail saying it was being built on the Monday. Was delivered on the Thursday. Love it.

I've heard bad reports about the Dell from other people who say they're quite prone to breaking down.

At the moment I'm favouring this Toshiba
one as it is in stock, they're supposed to be very reliable and has a worldwide warranty, which are the two things top of my list in importance.

I like the compaq laptops - no issues in 5 years of using various models - just another option

Do they have a world wide warranty

Yea, Tosh, IBM, Dell, Sony - all excellent makes. I personally have a Sony Vaio - which is the business.
